Kilimanjaro on my phone!

Seems like it's been quite a while since I posted anything on my blog. In short, first semester of my second year at university has been one hell of a whirlwind. I'm sure I can expand on that later but for now, since I know I have tonnes of blog posts to write in what feels like very little time, I wanted to begin with a quick run down of the past semester in short, before I start doing some mad year in review.

Firstly, I got back from Tanzania at the very beginning of September. It was the most incredible experience I've ever had and will continue to talk about it for at least the next year! I became Challenges Coordinator at Hull University RAG and began recruiting a team to climb Kilimanjaro next year and then all of a sudden my studies took over. By about week six of the first semester, deadlines began approaching and I found myself in the library almost 12 hours a day. Towards the end of the semester, I was even in there for an all-nighter. Not a good idea, trust me. I ended up getting half an hour sleep before a big assessed presentation. Worst possible idea and it left me feeling dead for the rest of the week. I think I'm still recovering from that. Either way, some grades have come back and I'm feeling pretty positive about how it's all gone and hope second semester is better! Not only that but I've been having a think about life a lot recently, as you do, and I can see there will be a lot of big changes coming up. However, my ultimate goal is to just get into third year and see how things go. I will only write about them if they happen, don't want to jinx anything quite so early on!

Kilimanjaro, Tanzania, and Zanzibar then. Of course I'm going to do actual posts about them but for the time being I'll just say, if you're thinking about going, just book it and go. Tanzania is a lovely country. There are some amazing national parks for safaris and camping. Kilimanjaro, obviously being the tallest mountain in Africa, was an unbelievable experience and I would actually love to do it again. Zanzibar is a beautiful island full of culture. You can literally spend a day in Stone Town and lose count of all the different religions and cultures you see. The opposite side of the island is like stepping on to a Caribbean island instead, it was genuinely unreal. Many people have asked me what my favourite part of the trip was but I couldn't really say at all. It was all incredible and definitely opened up my eyes to travelling and exploring even more throughout my life!

The whole time was so amazing that when offered me my own personalised phone case I definitely wasn't going to say no. Choosing what type of phone case you want is very simple and they offer varying templates to put more than one photo on the case at no extra cost. Of course I went for three photos of my trip to Tanzania and Zanzibar. It arrived within three days and it looks amazing. I love it so much, and I never love phone cases. I'm the sort of person to constantly change my phone case but this one, I won't be changing.

The top photo is one at the peak of Kilimanjaro, with the middle being the views of the glaciers when you are at the peak, and the bottom is the lush palm trees surrounding the hostel we stayed at in Paje, Zanzibar! The blue case colour really shows off the photos so well and I definitely have been surprised by the amount of compliments I've had. My Kilimanjaro team absolutely love it too. Very impressed by the look and the quality of the case. It protects my phone very well and neither the case or phone have got damaged at all. I would definitely recommend the site for anything personalised! Perfect for presents! Christmas may be nearly over but birthdays will be just around the corner!

As if I just said Christmas is nearly over! It's two days until Christmas day and that will essentially be it. On to celebrating the new year and back to work, school, and university! Why does time have to go so quickly?!

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!

I will be continuing blog posts from the New Year so look out for plenty about my travels and general life things!

Until then,
- Kira C xx

  1. Well done on getting your grades for the year, it sounds like you've got some great goals ahead. I love your phone case, what a shot!

  2. That personalised phone case is a great idea! I haven't been to any of these countries - can you recruit me for your trip?! Hehe! X
