Stratford-Upon-Avon - Day 1

Hello!

I recently visited the lovely town of Stratford-Upon-Avon, most commonly known for being the town in which the famous William Shakespeare was born. If you're planning on being the typical tourist then it seems obvious that you'd visit all of the Shakespeare museums but surprisingly we (I went with my mum and dad) didn't actually do much of that. Instead we spent our time seeing more of what S-u-A has to offer.

After arriving and checking in at the Best Western Grosvenor Hotel, we went for a stroll into town to get our bearings and some lunch, because I was starving.

After a lovely, refreshing pint of cider and an extremely cheesy toastie, we continued to wander around wondering what we might find. We made our way into some quieter areas where it seemed less tourists visited. It was either that or it was getting a bit late in the afternoon. Walking back toward the park and canal we were invited to look around some gardens which we found out later were the gardens of the Hall's Croft buildings. As part of the 4th of July celebrations, there had been a barbecue and some live music. Unfortunately we missed it but it was still a lovely place to walk around. The staff there were so friendly and I got some gorgeous photos of all the flowers. Some people had gone to lounge and fallen asleep. Clearly the hot sun was too much for them.

The first day was pretty relaxed and, I'm not going to lie, basically a big pub crawl. Heading back through the park, finding our next place for a pint, we met some swans! They were everywhere! I don't think I've ever met so many swans in one place. Especially ones that are so comfortable to be around people. There were plenty of people taking photographs and the swans really didn't seem to care!

Stratford-Upon-Avon is such a lovely place to visit (I realise I've used the word 'lovely' a lot in this post but it just shows how much I associate that would with everything there). This of course was only day one of a two day break away and the plan was to find where we could visit the following day but still spend plenty of time walking around and seeing the sights. We decided on the plan for the second day whilst sat in the Dirty Duck pub, famous for being the place where many actors have a pint after a show, it was also the inspiration for the pub in the BBC TV show Shakespeare & Hathaway: Private Investigators. The plan was to have a nosy around the RSC building and take a river boat tour. During the rest of the time we'd do some more wandering and see what we could find!
